The Ultimate Leverage – Promoting Residual Income Affiliate Programs

If you’re an affiliate marketer, you have a lot of important choices to make when it comes to setting up your business. Should you use article marketing or pay per click advertising? Should you create a blog or a static site? Among these important choices is what type of product to promote.

Once you decide on your niche, you should immediately begin looking for a residual income affiliate program. In fact, if you can’t find something that offers residual payments on a monthly basis, you may want to consider changing niches.

Residual income affiliate programs are the ultimate goal for affiliates. If you don’t believe this, think about it this way – the same amount of work is involved in setting up an affiliate marketing campaign with a one-time sale product as there is to promote a residual income product.

The only difference is that you get paid once a month instead of just once. Within a few months, your profits from the residual affiliate program will greatly out earn your other affiliate options.

Why don’t more people look for residual income affiliate programs? There are plenty to be found and most niches have at least one form of a residual income program. It would seem that most people would go after residual income opportunities.

One of the biggest reasons is because people perceive residual income programs to have a lower percentage of profits for the affiliates. Some one time sale products have affiliate percentages of 60% or higher. Residual income affiliate programs generally have affiliate percentages of slightly lower amounts, sometimes even down to 20% or less.

If you’re looking through affiliate opportunities and see a bunch of products listed in a row with 60% commission, you aren’t going to bat an eye at the 30% commission for the membership site in your niche. Smart marketers know that 30% each month for several months in a row is a better bet than 60% one time.

For example, if you’re comparing a ebook product to a membership site, you’re going to see an initial commission of from the ebook sale. With the membership site, you’ll only earn the first month, but by the second month it has matched the ebook sale. As the referral sticks around, you’ll earn more and more. Even if your referral only stays part of the site for six months, you’re looking at commission – three times as much as the ebook product!

Clearly, residual affiliate programs are the way to go. You can find them in Clickbank, Paydotcom and other affiliate networks. You can also locate them by searching for the term “membership site” with your niche keyword term.

In addition to membership sites, you can also earn residual commission from services and utilities, like web hosting. Residual income affiliate programs allow you to do the same amount of work and earn more. It’s the smart way to leverage your time and your money to increase your affiliate marketing earnings.
