I originally became a distributor of candles because the scent was so delicious. I just had to join so I could get my own candles at wholesale. However, once I joined and looked around at the top sellers in the company I learned about what a downline is and I wished I had gotten into multilevel marketing years ago. I have never considered myself a salesperson. I learned from the best that we are all salespeople. It just depends how we are selling and where we are selling.
Have you ever considered selling a product? Have you ever considered being a distributor and selling the product at home parties? Do you think that you would not have the right experience or personality to sell a product? Have you already tried selling a product and got tired of the methods you were taught to sell? Just because you do not have a bold personality and do not like to approach people does not mean you could not sell or would not be good at it. I thought the same thing and had absolutely no desire to sell to my friends. I learned I would not have to do this to succeed.
Today I want to discuss with you just one aspect of selling which goes beyond the home parties and selling at flea markets. I want to discuss the benefits of a downline. What is a downline? A downline occurs when people sign up under you as distributors in a multilevel marketing business and they sell and recruit other distributors resulting in Residual Income to you. What is Residual Income? This is the percentage of income earned by a person on the efforts of his or her downline and is a another form of passive income. Passive income is income earned today for efforts performed in the past.
I am wondering how many of you who are currently distributors for a MLM company or are considering multi level marketing actually understand the advantages of a downline. Maybe you are currently selling products. Possibly you sell beauty products or kitchenware as a distributor at home parties. Many people who are distributors for multilevel direct marketing companies only sell at parties and never venture into the area of trying to have a their own downline. Many others do not sell at all but work for companies as assistants, accountants, store clerks, etc. Those companies make lots of money based on the efforts of their employees however ten years down the road those employees still have the same job with the same salary and are no farther ahead unless they have done extremely well at saving money.
I want something different. I want to be able to enjoy my life as I get older and that does not mean working many hours for someone else. Frankly, I want to be out hiking while money is being deposited into my account from the efforts of my downline. That’s Residual Income or passive income. It’s not a myth. It can be obtained and it is being obtained by many people who understand how easy it is to obtain it.
Having the opportunity with a multilevel marketing company to sign up people under you who will earn money and thereby provide you with a percentage of their earnings can result in your having Residual Income on a monthly basis. How does this work? Well, you sign up individuals who have an interest in selling the product and as they grow their business you will receive Residual Income based on how much product they sell. If you have joined a good company which is selling excellent products and has great training resources you will have those people with you for years.
If you have signed up with the right company, as I did, you will receive training on how to attract people to you and join your downline. It can be done many ways. By getting the word out about your product through parties, on the internet, mailings, etc. you can draw people to you who wish to make more money and train them on how you became successful. Many people these days are looking for work opportunities out of the home so they can spend more time with their families. There are websites all over the internet devoted to this very thing.
How am I doing it? I decided that I was happier working with people over the internet rather than meeting people at home parties. I set up a brochure website. I attracted people to my website by marketing my website on the internet through free advertising.
You may say that you would not have the first notion about how to train someone. Firstly any good company would train you and you should search for that type of company. Think about one thing? Does it not make sense that once you have learned to train one person, you could train 100 people just as easily? That is one of the tricks. You organize your training material and each time someone joins your business you send them the same material. Piece of cake. Sure, they will come back with a few questions BUT this will only be for a short time, if you have provided them with the proper knowledge. It becomes easier all the time because you continue to modify your training resources as you see what is needed.
Move out of your comfort zone. Try something new. What have you got to lose anyway? You have Residual Income to gain and a lifestyle that will become much easier as time goes on.
You also need to understand that Residual Income does not happen overnight. If you work really hard you will gain more money sooner. However, attracting people to your business takes time. People want to think about it; sometimes for months!! After they join your company it may take them some time to get themselves organized. If you provide them with the proper training tools this will go quicker. However, you must be patient. This is really the crux of what I am trying to tell you in this article. It does not happen overnight but it does happen. If you join a multilevel marketing company and give up too soon, you lose it all. Remember nothing comes for free. When you work for a company you get money instantly but you only have that money for as long as you work for the company. When you build a business through multilevel marketing it takes longer to gain large amounts of Residual Income but once you do, you start having the freedom you dream of.
There are always leaders in any multilevel marketing company who are far ahead of most of the distributors. If it is working for the top sellers in my company it can work for me. Did it work for them overnight? Not at all. They just chose not to quit and to keep working the business. They read all the training material. They read books written by the best on this type of selling. They have passed what they have learned onto the other members of our business so that we can have the tools to be successful too. Success comes from copying other successful people.
Where do you start? Which company do you pick to join? Do your research. Consider such things as:
• How long has the company has been in business?
• Are the products excellent?
• Do they sell a variety of products?
• Is there something different, new and exciting about their products?
• How many other companies are selling similar products?
• How does the residual income program pay in comparison to other programs?
• Is there an excellent training program?
• Is the individual you are contacting about the business proactive, forthcoming, knowledgeable and helpful?
• What is the cost of the distributor materials?
• How much is the monthly fee?
• What are you getting for the monthly fee?
• If you are being requested to buy product every month is it a product that you can dispose of personally or that is easy to sell?
• What are the limitations on selling? Can you sell in many different ways?
• How large is your selling territory? Can you sell to different countries or can you only sell in your city?
• Is the company proactive and growing and improving its systems regularly?
• Are you disabled and limited as to what you can lift or how often you can leave the home and will the business work for this?
• Does the business require a car or can you occasionally use a taxi if you do not have one?
If you think you would be interested in multilevel marketing then prepare a chart. Set out some basic things to look for and add to the chart as you go along and look into a number of different companies. As you compare the items on your chart will increase. The internet has thousands of them that you can look into. Compare them. Decide which sales method works for your personality. For instance, just because a product cannot be sold outside of your city does not necessarily make it a better choice for a product that can be sold worldwide because that product may have a better Residual Income program or a cheaper start up. You need to look at the entire picture before you make your decision on the best company for you.
I guess you are wondering how you are supposed to make a living while you are waiting for all this money to come your way? Multilevel marketing is done very well on a part-time basis so it should be considered for those who work 9 to 5 and are willing to put in a few extra hours on nights and weekends and still have an income from another source. While you are building your downline you will need to do retail. You can do this a variety of ways depending on the product.
Everyone always talks about the monthly fee that multilevel marketing companies impose. If a company is imposing a fee that does not give you something for the fee, then that is not good. Walk away. However, if the company wants you to buy some product each month and also provides you with a website you are getting value for your money. If you can use the product yourself then there is no loss.
When a company requests you to buy product from them, that is making money for the company and that company then maintains and increases its profits. If it is a good company it puts back some of those profits into the business to improve the benefits to its distributors by adding things such as shopping online, expanding its territory, increasing its training materials, adding new products, etc. Make sure you go with a company that is not too new. Look at its track records. Is it being proactive? Is it improving is resources? Ask these questions. If you do not get any answers then you are dealing with the wrong distributor or the wrong company. The length of time a company is in business is not always a detriment. It usually means the product is excellent and people want to buy it. Look at Avon? Do the research.
There is not a business that you go into that is not going to cost you money to work. Also no business starts out being extremely profitable from the onset. You have to work very hard at reaping the benefits. Multilevel marketing is no different. If you have a business selling website design services then you have to have computers, internet access, phones, desk, etc. All of these things cost money. When you start a business you have to slowly build and only buy things when you have the profits. So you do this slowly and only invest in the items you absolutely need and then later on invest in the items that you can afford that will make your business work easier. Some businesses such as franchises cost thousands even to just start.
The difference between multilevel marketing and a regular business is that at the onset you work hard in both of them but with multilevel marketing you can decrease the number of hours you work after some years because of Residual Income. Are you getting the message yet? What would you do with your extra free time? Will I run into you on a hiking trail in the middle of the week on a hot sunny day by a river?
Paying out a monthly fee of a month is nothing to start a business. Buying some product and distributorship materials for a few hundred dollars is nothing to start a business. Since multilevel marketing can be done at any pace, it is very easy to just invest what you can at the onset and wait until later to invest more.
